THIS IS WHERE IT'S AT

SOM (Svenska Oberoende Musikproducenter) just dropped the nominations for Manifestgalan 2026, Sweden’s premier celebration of independent music. Now in its 23rd year, the gala returns to Nalen in Stockholm on March 25, and once again, the Swedish west coast stands out for its overall creativity.

This year’s nominees include a bunch of artists and releases somewhat affiliated to Westside Music, hoo-ray!, showcasing the diversity and strength of the local scene and community - here goes:

Synth:
Rupesh Cartel – Residual Light (Progress Productions)
Lucifer’s Aid – Enter and Exit (Progress Productions)

Pop:
The Mary Onettes – SWORN (Welfare Sounds & Records)

Singer/Songwriter:
Albert af Ekenstam – Ghost in Us (Welfare Sounds & Records)

Rock:
TOMMA INTET – HISINGEN TAXI RIDER (Welfare Sounds & Records)
Sylvie’s Head – Samlad årsproduktion (Welfare Sounds & Records/Harmful Records)

Metal:
Novarupta – Astral Sands (Suicide Records)
Label:
BlackValley Records

We don’t take credit for the creativity, the songs, or the records, those achievements belong entirely to the artists and labels, we're just honored to work alongside such an awesome independent scene. Beyond Westside, several nominated artists including Genom Natten, Svart Ridå , Axel Ruby and Agitator have all played at Viva Sounds, in a way highlighting the festival's role for Sweden’s most exciting talent.

If Westside (and/or Viva Sounds) can play even a small part in supporting the music scene, that’s something we’re deeply proud of.
Congratulations to all nominees, and best of luck at Manifestgalan 2026!
