TWO TIMES TWO IS FOUR

Before heading out into Europe for a busy autumn, we're kicking things off things at home – with four great bands, two Gothenburg stages and two Viva Sounds presents events within a week. Here's some math to do! 

Göteborgskalaset - Kungstorget - Friday, August 28th
This Friday, we'll bring a bit of Viva Sounds to Göteborgskalaset on behalf of Göteborg & Co, and we're doing it by waving the flags of bands we know. Mary Shelley returns to Gothenburg after a brilliant appearance at Viva Sounds in 2024. Expect chaotic, danceable post-punk drawing inspiration from everyone from Talking Heads and IDLES to disco, hip-hop and Viagra Boys. 
They'll be mixed up with Spela Död, who turned our tram into a moving celebration at Viva Sounds last year. Noisy, melodic Swedish guitar rock mixing rural mythology, the apocalypse and a proper party – and almost impossible to stand still to.

Club Viva Sounds - Hängmattan - Friday, September 4th
One week later, we're back at Hängmattan with The Slates from Yorkshire who left chaos in their tracks at both the tram and Hängmattan during Viva Sounds 2025. Now they're back as part of a Scandinavian run taking them to Debaser, Live at Heart and Norway – with Gothenburg firmly in the middle.
Joining them is Staf, one of the most exciting names in the new Swedish indie wave. Dark post-punk and emotionally charged indie rock in Swedish, delivered by a band with a growing reputation for intense live shows.
